SPRINGFIELD – January marks Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is joining forces with the Illinois State Police, the Department of Human Services, and local organizations to raise awareness about human trafficking. This crime, which involves force, fraud, or coercion for labor or sex, affects millions of people worldwide, including in Illinois. DCFS is hosting events this month, including training for staff and outreach efforts to support survivors. The department is also collaborating with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Illinois and other agencies to implement victim-centered programs.
