DEKALB - A DeKalb man is facing murder charges following a domestic battery incident on Tuesday. The DeKalb Police Department reported being called to the 800 block of West Hillcrest Drive for a report of an unresponsive woman. Officers found the 31-year-old victim in an apartment, where she had sustained significant facial injuries. Despite efforts by officers and the DeKalb Fire Department to render aid, Jasmine Dejournette succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. Authorities stated that the victim and the suspect, 30-year-old Devonne L. Montgomery, shared the apartment. Montgomery has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated domestic battery, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. He remains in custody at the DeKalb County Jail.
