Two Plead Guilty in 2020 DeKalb Murder Case

SYCAMORE - Two of the four people authorities claim are responsible for the death of a 29-year-old in 2020 in DeKalb have pleaded guilty to lesser charges. DeKalb County Court records indicate that Jimmy and Katrina Edwards of DeKalb were originally charged with first degree murder. In exchange for reduced charges, the couple will have to testify against Jimmy Edwards' brother, Emanual Edwards, and another man, Esaiah Escamilla. Jimmy pleaded guilty to one count of armed violence and Katrina pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated battery. Police say in July of 2020, an argument erupted outside a gas station the ended in gunfire, taking the life of Chrishun Keeler-Tyus and injuring his girlfriend. They are due back in court on May 15th.
